Detailed: We construct a directed, weighted graph whose nodes are authors (identified by slugified display names). For every comment, we add an edge from the commenter to the author of the post being commented on; multiple comments from the same commenter to the same post author increase the edge weight. We then run basic NetworkX PageRank (α=0.85) over this graph, which models a random surfer who, with probability α, follows an outgoing edge chosen in proportion to its weight (so commenters distribute their influence to the authors they engage with), and with probability (1−α) teleports uniformly to any author. The PageRank score for each author is the steady-state probability of landing on that author and reflects second-order influence: being commented on by many people helps, but being commented on by already influential commenters helps even more. The CSV’s weighted_in/out are simple sums of incoming/outgoing edge weights for context; the PageRank column is the actual influence score and the scores sum to ~1.
